...I'm sorry. This borders on blasphemy, but I can't be the only one who thinks it's funny that suddenly, Transformers are appearing in Yasmin Ahmad's blog.

It's a perfectly Y.A. post, and it was published somewhere around the vicinity of the zomgbaldness fiasco. For two thirds of the way it's all quite sane, and then suddenly, Megatron decides to input his two sen.

INSECTS!

FLESHFORM YASMIN, FLESHFORM AMYMARIA, FLESHFORM ANON,
FLESHFORM HOLDERS, FLESHFORM KEKURE, FLESHFORM MAS, FLESHFORM AZIZI AHMAD ...
AND ALL PATHETIC FLESHFORMS READING THIS.

HEAR ME NOW.

MEGATRON.

YOUR BICKERINGS VEXES ME.

IF THERE IS TO BE JUDGEMENT, IT SHALL ONLY COME FROM ME, FILTHY FLESHLINGS.

YOUR EXISTENCE TAINTS ME. YOUR FLESH IS WEAK.
YOU ARE WEAK. YOUR INTELLECTS ARE WEAK.
INSIGNIFICANT INSECTS.

ALL YOU TALK ABOUT MATTERS FOR NOTHING!
SOON YOUR PLANET WILL BE A WASTELAND. THE HOUR DRAWS NEAR. THE ALLSPARK WILL BE MINE.

IT WOULD BE BETTER IF YOU ALL SELF TERMINATE NOW.

Not too long afterwards, Optimus Prime himself (w00t!) joins in, pleading passionately for the partially pitiful psyches of PC perusers. And then up pop Bonecrusher, Bumblebee, Spike, and even Starscream. Even Michael 'Bai'. Pop, pop, pop! Suddenly even Michael (Jackson) and Ronald (McD) spring out of the woodwork.

Somewhere in the middle was a commenter scolding the anonymice for faffing around in the comments section, but...I feel nothing but amusement. It could be a collection of trolls, but...it's a collection of intelligent, benign trolls on Yasmin Ahmad's blog. And that makes a certain dippy blogger roll up in giggles.

...Wonder what Yasmin thought about all of that in the end.

State of mind: thoughtful
Current soundtrack: the whirr of the aircon

I've been having strange dreams about pale-skinned alien women recently. That's all I should say, for fear of further public confirmation that I'm Stark Raving Bonkers.

Took the compulsory extra two hours of driving classes today. It didn't turn out too badly, I think! At least the engine didn't die and for the most part, I didn't run into anybody. The rearview mirror is like a revelation.

Memes again!

State of mind: drowsy
Current soundtrack: Black Jack - here I am (globe)
When I was typing this bit, 'Cross My Heart' came up on WMP. I love this song. In fact, it's one of my favourite pairing anthems—but I hate Ayashi no Ceres just as much as anything else by Watase. Darnit, how come such crap anime had such great music? O_o

With that in mind, a meme I picked off Fenix to do before bedtime:

Name 13 songs in your mind and answer the following questions.

  1. Eiyuu (doa)
  2. Heaven (Bryan Adams)
  3. Cross My Heart (Day Break)
  4. Qing Sheng (Nicholas Tse, Charlene Choi)
  5. Chikai wo Kimi ni (ibid)
  6. Salvia no Tsubomi (HOME MADE Kazoku)
  7. Taiyou no Uta (Amane Kaoru)
  8. Pass The Flame (Yiannis Kotsiras)
  9. Itsumo Soba Ni (Kirii Daisuke)
  10. Kimi no Ai to Boku no Yuuki (Kageyama Hironobu)
  11. Do You Hear The People Sing? (Les Miserables)
  12. here I am (globe)
  13. Kimi no Kiss de (ayaka)

Who do you remember when you hear no. 4?
The first man I had a crush on in college.

Does no. 8 make you happy?
It's spirited and energetic, but it doesn't make me HAPPY.

Has no. 3 made you cry?
Nope. Probably won't, ever.

In what occasion did you hear no. 9?
Someone on my old blog mentioned they had the image song for OuHos' Mori. I like Mori. I download.

Do you miss no. 10?
The sentiment makes me wistful, but I have the song on my laptop, so no. :)

Which lyrics do you like the best from no. 1?
Otoko nara
Dareka no tame ni tsuyoku nare
Onna mo sou sa
Miteru dake ja hajimaranai

(If you are a man
Then be strong for someone close to you
Same for a woman
Nothing starts if you watch without a clue)

...Yes, I translated the song. Yes, the lines rhyme. I had a lot more free time back then.

Imagine something when you hear no. 2.
I think of a man and woman at night, under a large tree. The stars are out. They lie head-to-head, staring at the sky and holding the other's hand.

Who do you remember when you hear no. 6?
My parents. For obvious reasons, if you've heard this song.

When was the last time you heard no. 11?
Three years ago, during Lit Nite 2004 (Miracles).

Who told you about no. 8?
No one did. I heard it during an ad for the Athens Olympics and went looking for it.

Do you often sing no. 11?
Only just recently, because it's included in the Les Mis epilogue. And I was singing that because I was preparing a wallpaper. >w>

Have you sung no. 7 to anyone?
Would anyone listen?

Does no. 10 inspire your life?
Sometimes. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy. :)

Does no. 5 tell about your feelings?
...This one? Hard to say. It energises me. It's my alarm ringtone. But yes, sometimes I feel this way. Or I need to. ;)

What do you feel when you hear no. 2?
Sorrow mixed with hope. A great deal of hope.

Do you smile when you hear no. 11?
No.

When was the first time you heard no. 1?
At the end of A Chinese Tall Story. And I fell in love.

If you could dedicate no. 9 to someone, who would it be?
Firn, most likely. The person I first wanted to dedicate this to probably doesn't even care now.

Does no. 7 mean a lot to you?
It...depends on my mood XD

What’s so special about no. 10?
I can actually see this as Dyna and Tiga's song. If you saw them fight together, you would too.

Would you sing no. 11 to anyone? to whom?
No, unless they wanted me to. (Why. Do you like. 11. So. Much?!)

Does no. 8 remind you of someone?
Not really.

What memory comes to your mind when you hear no. 5?
Seeing the Six Ultra Brothers for the first time.

Do you want to hear no. 12 right now?
Oo yes, let's. :D *puts it on*

Can you remember clearly the first time you heard no. 13?
I was...in my room, last year, during term break. Nothing else really worth remembering. XD

WAHOO, KENA SHOOT BY CLIENTS TODAY. x____x;

All right, it wasn't THAT bad, but it does set the project back considerably...OTL Content needs childifying. Characters need to get their corners sanded off. Also, the interaction wasn't interacting today.

Gwar. Such is life. Still, it's actually good to be in a group and feeling useful again - I just ran the (fifth) draft of the child-friendly content and am sending it around.

Tsukareteru yooooo. I need sleep.

Was talking with my cousin earlier, and I have my first (extremely cheapo) freelance gig. I'll talk a bit about this later.

'They were to come back for me, but they never did...'

State of mind: surprised (and slightly drowsy)
Current soundtrack: The white noise of the fan and the ticking of the keyboard

This is probably going to make no sense to anyone except myself, but what the hey.

It's been a very weird weekend, as I found some fairly old doodles I made while taking my trial HCEs three years ago. One of them included a backstory for one of my characters, Hakugin (Shi had nicer footwear then. I might bring that back.), and it involved two soldiers who were later reincarnated as...well, two others in an already established series. I won't go any further. One was skinny and brash, the other was a big, sweet man. The weird part? A year later, I had to prepare a script for my Drama class. Not only did I turn it into ANOTHER Hakugin backstory, conveniently forgetting this one, I managed to transplant the two characters in—and switch their personalities AND reincarnations. Skinny and brash became slim and innocent. Big and sweet became strong and silent.

...I swear when I scripted Never Alone, Kiichiro and Jinnosuke were designed then. I didn't quite expect them to turn up a year prior to that on an old Math Magic competition form, or hide in my brain and await a chance for rebirth.

Also, I had a dream about being scammed on a family holiday - twice. The first had the whole clan walking home through colourful, chest-high tulip fields (please remember I live in a TROPICAL country), and the next had me kidnapped and thrown into freezing 'brown water', only to later chase courting hornbills and get bitten by the irate male of the pair. To be fair, They were extremely pretty crowned pigeons at the start of my dream. Even better was the look in the male's eyes when I finally stopped playing dead, before he chewed by nose off—"Ha, see, I knew you were alive, you naked Wingless! Phear my 1337 papa hornbill sk33l5!"

Film dude extraordinaire Amir Muhammad used to write parody articles in his NST column, so when he said people were in a flap over Sharifah Amani shaving her head bald during the production of Muallaf, I thought he was half-joking.

...He wasn't, which makes me more than half-shellshocked. Ai. Yo. YO. Face, meet palm. Get to know each other. (The Mail also published another article today about Muallaf and the baldness, here.)

Let's make a checklist here.

  • The action has been perceived as 'overboard.'
The character Sharifah plays? Is bald. Wigs and cosmetics didn't seem close enough, so in came the barber...and out went her hair. That's fine in my book. Obviously, one's mileage will vary.
  • The action was degrading and for the sake of popularity.
Sharifah doesn't seem degraded at all. As for the popularity thing, see the above point, and please to stuff a sock in it. -_-
  • Malaysian artistes are becoming too daring.
How, exactly? :/ By kissing whoever they want to? By shaving their head bald to get in character? Come on! Compared to the 'Western' scene we're squeaky clean! I mean, it's your own decision if you don't want a Muslim actor to play a non-Muslim (because obviously somehow, that'll Reset the World), but by that logic, Prince of Egypt would have been a bitch to cast for if Malaysia had produced it. Ditto stuff like Schindler's List. Does that mean only NAZI actors can play Nazis, then?
  • It's SIIIINFUL for a woman to act like a man.
...Um, hi there. This is the blimming 21st century, and gender roles are blending delightfully into one another. Women can pee standing up (...with the appropriate paper doodads, but still), if they want to. Men can put make-up on and dance with pretty pink scarves, if they want to. Because seriously, these things are not going to send Malaysia sinking into the seas ala Atlantis, or bring giant broccoli monsters to our shores, or turn everyone into amoral heathens. Trust me on this one. Sometimes a bald actress is really just a bald actress. The dignity of Islam was not contained in Sharifah Amani's hair—although let me tell you, it was a darn fine head of hair.

If this movie gets banned because of ZOMGtehbaldladeez!, it will only prove that no, we're not ready for Vision 2020 just yet. Heck, we might not even make 3030. -_-; Oh my motherland, why are you so devoid of logic?

*your spelling may vary. ^^;

The dessert of the devil. O_O

State of mind: sleepy
Current soundtrack: White noise from the fan

I like dark chocolate. Scratch that - I LOVE dark chocolate. The aroma! The taste! The high polyphenol levels!

This week, I bought a Meiji 99% Cacao bar.

(Thanks for the image, Meiji.)

The first mention I heard of the bar was through one of the fancomics on M787, with Neos being the unfortunate sampling guinea pig. Finding it at the Shojikiya over Pyramid proved to be a little too strong of a temptation. Bought a bar to try, scoffing at the warning on the back of the box: 'This is extremely bitter chocolate'. Foolish mortal, they weren't kidding...

After dinner, I unwrapped the stuff. Good galloping GODS, did it smell good! I broke off a small piece and chucked it into my mouth. Hmm. This wasn't so bad, even as it was melting. And then I swallowed, the chocolate hitting the back of my throat.

...AAARGHHHHH.

That was not chocolate. That was the essence of a black hole compressed into a slab of pure, lip-smacking darkness. @_@

I predict this bar will last a few months, with small, polyphenol-rich chunks being chipped off over the days and occasionally by unsuspecting houseguests.

Next time, I'm trying the 80-something% cocoa bar - at least that had SUGAR somewhere in the ingredients list. o_o

While things are getting a little sticky with Hatevetica and PSFour (but we've only just started!!), I got a nice diversion in the mail today.

...Ohoho, what is this?

A few weeks back, before the LJ Strikethrough of 2007 (which I greatly look forward to seeing soon in a Consumer Behaviour textbook near you), the UK-based printing company Moo teamed up with Livejournal and offered little widdy 10-packs of MiniCards to a few thousand people. Free!

I'm human. I'm Malaysian. I'm a kiamsiap Hokkien, darn it. I signed up.

About two weeks later, the envelope from Moo arrived. With much squeeage of joy, I took it up to my secret bat-lair room to open. Within was this nice little holder...

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
...Is that supposed to be upside down?

...which contained the awaited cards. (Just some text-on-a-background. I mean, it is free. There are limits. :D)

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Behold my precious card booteh!

The back of the MiniCards are nice and simple with some space to elaborate on yourself. Bolding and LJ logo optional.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
See?

...Of course, I ordered these before Strikethrough happened, which made me somewhat determined to cut losses and set up permanent base on Blogger, and the inclusion of my LJ URL is now a tad redundant.

As the picture above shows, five of the cards read 'cmayyin.blogspot.com'; the others read as follows:

  • INSANITY: see cmayyin.blogspot.com
  • Ultraman: My anti-drug (among other things)
  • WARNING: FALLING MEMES
  • (Ranting was in the job description) (done in the girliest text available. Unfortunately it was a bit thin. :P)
  • 0 to insanity in 20 seconds
The cards themselves are about half the size of a normal business card, and printed on good thick stuff. Great feel, with a smooth matt finish. *rub rub*

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
*boing boing* (I need to cut my nails.)

The verdict? Oo, I like. Also, I adore a site with good copy. When I actually start drawing my own income, part of it is going towards getting more uh, properly printed Moo cards. Let's see, £9.99 for 100 cards, plus the flat shipping rate of £2.99...um, RM 90? (o_o) That's it, putting money aside now, and praying the ringgit strengthens...or the pound falls...or there's another Moo offer coming soon...

Last term ago while talking to the fresh meat new students, we pulled out this one shy girl with big specs and made her present something in front. It was a bit worrying, as this seemed to be a super-quiet batch (actually, most of them kind of ARE...). I needn't have worried. Nearer the end of term, I saw her again, she recognised me coming out of class and bounced up to hail me with a big 'Hi!' There was hope for this group yet.

We've been crossing paths again and again for the past few months, and today at the local KFC we finally decided that hey, we finally needed to know each other's names. ;) Finally, the bombshell drops.

"You know the Motion Graphics tutor?"

"What, um, Ando?"

"He's my brother! :)"

"HA-WHAT!? Σ(˚Д˚)"

I must concede there was a certain resemblance, particularly in the shape of the face...So, if all goes well, I might end up tutoring the sister of my tutor? o_o;; Well, it looks like we get along, at least...

Life is complicated, but I think we all know that. >_<

Crayola Bomb!

State of mind:
Current soundtrack: Lecturers muttering while waiting for errant classmates to come back from assignment

I found this quote while surfing a site and felt the intense need to share it with my readership, which I'm pretty sure is tiny at the time of writing. I have blogitis. I am not ashamed.

Maybe we should develop a Crayola bomb as our next secret weapon. A happiness weapon. A beauty bomb. And every time a crisis developed, we would launch one. It would explode high in the air - explode softly - and send thousands, millions, of little parachutes into the air. Floating down to earth - boxes of Crayolas. And we wouldn't go cheap, either - not little boxes of eight. Boxes of sixty-four, with the sharpener built right in. With silver and gold and copper, magenta and peach and lime, amber and umber and all the rest. And people would smile and get a little funny look on their faces and cover the world with imagination.

Guess who's the copywriter/editor for Batch 51's graduation campaign? X3 Between me and my trusty, equally grammar-finicky assistant, no syn(tax) shall go unpunished*! No verb shall be treated as a noun! The F7 button will sing beneath our fingers! Behold, TOA, She-Noun and the Masters of the Grammarverse! *triumphant cartoon music* One small problem—I really don't know anyone in the board besides some of my classmates. I guess now's a good opportunity to get to know some people from other majors besides the old foundation gang.

Internship is going along quite smoothly. So far, so good—we're all bouncing merrily off each other and it's proving to be a pleasant experience. Expect to see some of my sketches here soon. :D

I had a horribly, unashamedly moe-riffic dream last night. There was an Ultraman event on for the school holidays—a GREAT BIG event!!!—in which Noa handled a crying baby expertly (cue squeeing from author), I saw a massive flock of Brahminy kites on a beach and life was so good I refused to wake up until I'd overslept one hour. :P

Firnheledien comes over tomorrow for a visit! ♥ But tonight...proposal work. @_@ *reluctantly detaches self from blogging and goes to work*

* we sincerely hope.

PM urges all parties to accept Lina Joy decision (thanks NSTOnline!)

"The decision was based on the Constitution. It is a set of laws that we have to follow. This country has law, we uphold the Constitution, the sanctity of it, otherwise we would not succeed," he said.

I'm not about to say there was pressure on the judges like some reports, but 'constitutional', Pak Lah? Um, no. Not really. Not from this end.

I refer to bits of the first 11 Articles in the Malaysian Constitution.

Article 3

1. Islam is the religion of the Federation; but other religions may be practised in peace and harmony in any part of the Federation.

Article 11

1. Every person has the right to profess and practice his religion and, subject to Clause (4), to propagate it.

4. State law and in respect of the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Labuan, federal law may control or restrict the propagation of any religious doctrine or belief among persons professing the religion of Islam.

Which, technically, Lina Joy does not. *groan*

Article 12

3. No person shall be required to receive instruction in or take part in any ceremony or act of worship of a religion other than his own.

We have established Lina Joy considers herself Christian. We are sending her to the Islamic syariah court.

Hmm, why don't these two pieces fit? @_@

Also, Dato' Nazri Aziz from the PM's Dept. finally says something USEFUL, if maybe a little removed from this context: “What is the point of keeping a person a Muslim if they no longer believed in the faith and made that publicly known?” (Emphasis mine.)
